Palak Paneer :-

Today, i am going to share the recipe of very delicious & traditional vegetable with all of you. It's name is Palak Paneer. It is a seasonal & healthy vegetable. It is very simple to make at home. So just have a look on the recipe written below & make it at home.

Ingredients :-

For the palak puree :-
  • 1 bunch fresh spinach/palak.
  • 1 or 2 green chilies, chopped.
  • 1 garlic (optional).
  • ½ inch ginger, roughly chopped
For the palak curry :-
  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped.
  • 1 medium sized tomato, chopped.
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, finely chopped.
  • ¾ tsp cumin seeds.
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder.
  • ½ tsp red chili powder.
  • a pinch of asafoetida.
  • ¾ tsp garam masala powder.
  • 1 bay leaf/tej patta.
  • 200 gms paneer.
  • 2 tbsp cream.
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee or butter.
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi leaves / dry fenugreek leaves (optional).
  • salt as required.
  • water as required.

Method :-

For the spinach puree :-

1.) Soak the spinach very well in water.

2.) Boil water in a pan & add some salt.

3.) Turn off the flame and add the spinach leaves in the hot water.

4.) Cover with a lid and let the spinach leaves sit in the water for 2-3 mins.

5.) Drain and immediately add the leaves in a pan or bowl containing ice cold water, in order to retain the green color of the spinach.

6.) Drain and then blend the spinach in a blender with ginger, garlic and green chilies, make a smooth puree.

For the palak curry :-

1.) Heat oil or ghee in a pan.

2.) Add the cumin seeds, bay leaves and onions & fry till onion becomes golden brown.

3.) Now add the garlic and tomatoes.

4.) Fry till the tomatoes become soft.

5.) Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and asafoetida & cook for some seconds..

6.) Now add the spinach puree, add some water if required.

7.) Cook for 6-7 minutes or more till the spinach is cooked.

8.) At last add salt and garam masala.

9.) Stir and add the paneer cubes.

10.) Cook the gravy till the paneer cubes become soft.

11.) Add cream and stir well.

12.) Cook for 30 seconds or a minute.

13.) At this stage, add some crushed dry fenugreek leaves.

14.) Mix well & cook for about a minute.

Now your Palak Paneer is ready to serve. Garnish with grated paneer & fresh cream. Serve it with chapatis, naan or Jeera rice. I'm sure that you are going to make it at home now..
